Foreign Missions

At the Ephesians 4 Centre For Learning, we have a real heart for foreign missions. America is over-resourced, over-evangelized, over-everything'ed while the rest of the world has literally billions of souls who have NEVER heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ even once! Don't they deserve a chance to make the Eternal City, too? And when American "Christians" spend more money on dog food than they do on missions, something is painfully wrong with our priorities! At that same time, scams and frauds are so rife in the 3rd World that not everyone who writes "God bless you" on a piece of cardboard and takes a polaroid of it can be assumed to be a legitimate 3rd world outreach! One safe way, of course, is to send all your money to the "big guys", the mega-ministries, who then are supposed to take our tithes and offerings and carefully and prayerfully place these monies in the hands of God-fearing folks in desperate need in other countries. But too often, we have discovered serious fraud at work within the mega-ministries as well. I can clearly remember a wonderful old pastor in Evansville, IN tell me how a major TV evangelist promised to help them with the orphanage they had in Haiti. All they had to do was let this well-known evangelist put up a banner saying that the two ministries were in cooperation on this project, and that the evangelist would make sure that all the monies donated were rerouted to the orphanage. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The TV evangelist, who shall remain nameless, had a big, pretty vinyl sign placed directly over the weathered, beat-up sign of the Evansville pastor. Then they did an intensive shoot, and in every segment, claimed that the orphanage actually belonged to the evangelist! During the shoot, the evangelist wept and claimed he had been sleeping with the locals on hard dirt floors. What a lie! Instead, he had been staying at the most expensive hotel in Port-Au-Prince, separate from everyone else. To top it all off, when all the smoke cleared, NOT ONE PENNY that the evangelist raised as a result of using and manipulating that wonderful old pastor's ministry and orphanage ever came back to him! The evangelist came, put on a show, and waltzed out the door with all the money, leaving our poor pastor friend high and dry, and no better off in trying to help his people.

With that in mind, we have committed to help the little guy, the small ministries all over the world who are "busting their chops", working night and day, and doing everything they can with virtually no support, yet do it for the love of Christ. The ministries you will see cameoed here are not "big guys". They are "little guys", with no slick ad campaigns, no mega-web sites, no wonderful offers of "Jesus Junk" for your generous contribution. No, dear friends, these are simply dedicated, hard-working Christians, most of whom are native to the country in which they minister, who have been called by Christ to evangelize, preach, teach, pray, prophesy, and pour their lives out for their own people and for the cause of Christ. And there are millions of them, laboring in obscurity, yet known to God. We want you to know about some of them, too. Here, then, are some of our friends in the 3rd World that we recommend and trust, and you can trust them to. Please help us to help them. They get no support from denominations, major ministries, or rich uncles. Just folks like you and me. Meet our brothers and sisters in the 3rd World!

Good Samaritan Ministries

Raj and Ruth

Sarilla Mani Ratna Raj & Sarilla Vijaya Ruth

Narsapur, West Godavari Dist., Andhra Pradesh Prov., India

Evangelism to over 30 villages, orphanage of 50 children

No denominational or outside organization help

Ruth and Raj are a "love marriage". In India, most couples who marry have their marriages arranged by parents when they are very young. These wonderful young people fell in love with Jesus, then fell in love with each other. Three months after they were married, they began to evangelize in the West Godavari District of the Ahdhra Pradesh Province, going to villages that had NEVER heard of Christ before! They have a 70% conversion rate! Yes, you heard me right! 70%! And with no formal support! Their orphanage began when they could no longer walk past homeless children crying and hungry in the street. They started to bring them home, and now they have 50 children. Check them out!

More ministries will be added to our list in the near future. If you would like to be listed, please contact Pastor Ray Young at the Fellowship @ River's Edge.
